Susan Tomasky has held significant held leadership positions in the energy industry, government and the Ohio business community for over 20 years. She was senior executive for 13 years at American Electric Power, one of the nation's largest electric utilities, serving most recently as President of AEP's transmission business (2009-2011) where she was responsible for the business growth strategy and management of AEP's multi-state transmission business operations. She previously served as AEP' General Counsel (from 1998- 2001), Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer (2001-2007), and EVP for shared Services (2007- 2008). Tomasky currently serves as a Director of Tesoro Corp, an oil refining and marketing company based in San Antonio Texas and Public Service Enterprise Group, an electric utility holding company based in Newark, New Jersey. She is also an independent Director for BPL Global, LLC, a privately held smart grid company, and for Summit Midstream MLP, a publicly traded midstream natural gas infrastructure company. Ms Tomasky is on the Board of the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland, and serves as Chair of the Audit Review Committee. She has served on numerous community non-profit Boards, including Mt. Carmel Health Systems and the Columbus School for Girls. She is currently is the Vice Chair of the Columbus Regional Airport Authority. From 1993-97, she served as general counsel of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), where she was a primary legal and policy advisor to the commission and played a key role in the development of policies promoting competitive wholesale electricity markets. Tomasky also practiced law in Washington, D.C. as a partner at the firm of Van Ness Feldman and later at the firm of Hogan and Hartson (now Hogan Lovells). In 2001 and 2002, she was named one of the world's "50 key women in energy worldwide" by Commodities Now magazine and corporate sponsors. She has received numerous professional and community awards including, the People of Vision Award from Prevent Blindness Ohio, the 2011 Glass Ceiling Award from the National Diversity Council and was named Woman of Achievement by the YWCA of Columbus, Ohio. A native of Morgantown, W.Va., Tomasky holds a juris doctor degree with honors from George Washington University National Law Center in Washington, D.C., where she was a member of the Law Review. She also is an honors graduate of the University of Kentucky in Lexington. She lives in Columbus Ohio with her husband, Ronald Ungvarsky and their daughter, Victoria. |
